About BARRIO 47
Barrio 47, a new bar/restaurant, has now joined the West Village’s hip restaurant circuit. Barrio 47 is located at 47 Eighth Avenue between Jane and Horatio Street. The restaurant is built on the tradition of the classic cocktail and wood-fired, Mediterranean cuisine. The 60-seat restaurant is energized by mixing original details with modern industrial accents. Original hand painted brick walls were kept as part of the new design and paired with a white Carrara marble bar, industrial lighting, Euro-style high seating at communal and individual tables, open kitchen and large wood-fired brick oven. A custom made iron chandelier lit by incandescent light bulbs span the length of the bar area, establishing two separate areas for the bar and for dining. The venue embodies familiar materials, accents of warm tones, and elements that are dually industrial and luxe, thus inducing a sense of vibrancy and generating an atmosphere of cool. Barrio 47 team of professional bartenders prepare classic and contemporary cocktails including several signature drinks like the Barrio Especial, El Diablo, and the Mamba Charmer. In addition to specialty cocktails, house-made infused vodkas and rums, bitters, spices, and a variety of elixirs assist the team prepare inspiration cocktails based on the customer’s palate and desires. Inventive cocktails are paired with dishes influenced from Spain, Italy and France.
About the Owners
Brothers, Alex and Roman Volland, have grown up in the restaurant business. Originally from France, they lived on top of their mother's restaurant in the suburbs of Paris. After leaving France in the late nineties, they embarked upon a culinary adventure as servers, managers, owners and operators in numerous well-known restaurants in New York City. After years of working and partnering with others, they have regrouped to open Barrio 47.
